The process of making wine is something like a maze: there are so many routes at every stage that can lead to a dead end. That may be why Mark Maxwell decided to grow one at the bottom of the vineyard. Then again, with his quirky sense of humour, whoโd know? Not only is it a constant reminder that thereโs always a solution to any problem, itโs a great way for children of every age to have fun. You can relax with a bottle of wine in the picnic grounds while the kids explore the maze. (Maze fee is waived with a purchase of wine from the Tasting Room.)
Our picnic grounds and maze are available for Maxwell customers on a first-come, first-served basis during normal business hours for groups of 11 adults or less, while views of the winery, vineyards and the Fleurieu hills lie just through the window.
You are welcome to bring your own food to enjoy in the picnic area only. We do however ask that any wine or drinks consumed are Maxwell-Made.
Groups of 12 or more are by appointment only and must book the Premium Picnic Package.
