Huon Hooke's 25 red wines for winter

The Sydney Morning Herald, 24th May 2011: Respected Australian wine writer Huon Hooke has listed his selection of 25 winter wines for 2011 in the Good Living liftout. The great news is Huon has included McLaren Vale's Maxwell 2009 Silver Hammer Shiraz in his choice of must-have reds for the cold weather ahead.

Over three quarters of a million people (that wake up to the SMH) have been provided by Huon Hooke with a short list of wines to stock up on this winter, with Maxwell's 2009 Silver Hammer Shiraz included in this selection of must-haves. Congratulations to our winemaker Alexia Roberts; this is a fantastic endorsement for Maxwell Wine's quality. In describing the 09 Silver Hammer, Huon used comments such as "deep and succulent", "smooth and velvety", "mouthful of fun", "classic McLaren Vale" and even "exercise in decadence". Wow! We definately love this wine: it appears that a lot of other people do to (including James Halliday with a 94/100 score and another brilliant review), and after this selection in The Sydney Morning Herald, many more will be looking to stock up for winter.
