New vintage Reserve Shiraz

Monday, November 1, 2010

Maxwell Wines has today released the 2008 Minotaur Reserve Shiraz - the first reserve wine in 2 years from this premium boutique winery in the heart of McLaren Vale.

"All good things come to those who wait..." And we've waited 2 years for this one - the new 2008 Minotaur Reserve Shiraz - Maxwell Wine's icon Shiraz. Created from the finest parcel of fruit from the 2008 vintage, this wine represents the pinnacle of the Maxwell portfolio. Matured for 26 months in the winery's underground limestone cellar, patience has rewarded winemaker Alexia Roberts and owner Mark Maxwell. As Mark said, "With no reserve wine produced since the 2006 vintage, we really doted on this Shiraz by sourcing the best French oak barrels for this wine's maturation." Even though this wine will continue to improve and evolve over time, prior to release the '08 Minotaur has been nominated for the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation's award for the best Australian wine submitted for export for 2010/11 - the prestigious George Mackey Trophy. Certainly an early indication of the purity, power and elegance this wine possesses.
